Standing on Your Identity as a Beloved Child of God

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” -1 John 3:1

The Bible says in John 15:13 that the greatest love of all comes from the God of the Bible, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Jesus, who is fully God and fully man, demonstrated His love for you by laying down His life for you.

There are those who love us and it is a blessing from God; however, the greatest blessing is to know and believe you are loved by God greatly. No one can love you like God. As we search to be loved at times, God wants to reveal His love for us. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s love to us daily.

Standing on our identity as a beloved child of God is where God wants us to be all the time, through good times and hard times. It is through the knowledge of this identity that will get us through the hard times. When we become followers and believers in Jesus, we lose our identity in this world and embrace our identity in Christ. When we fully believe in God’s love for us, we are able to live our lives fully surrendered to Him. Psalm 33:18 says God watches those who believe in His love for them.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” There is no other god in the world that is worshiped that has love for those who worship him, and there is no other god in the world that is love (1 John 4:16, “God is love”), who loves you and me.

God’s love for you is affirmed by this verse in Luke 12:6-7:” Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” This verse is an encouragement to you that in dark times when you feel forgotten, God says, just as He takes care of the sparrows, He will do the same for you. He will care for you since you are more valuable to God than sparrows.

Friend, if you go through life without truly knowing God and His love, then it will make no difference how much pleasure or success you may gain from the ways of this world, in the end, you will have lived in vain. No matter the success, there is always an emptiness in us that only Jesus can fill. Know today there is a God calling out to you who wants to reveal His great love to you through Jesus.

Do you know Jesus?

How to have a relationship with Jesus:

The Bible says in Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” If you would like to have a relationship with Jesus, you can pray this prayer below, and make sure you get connected to a Bible-based church to help you walk out and grow in your relationship with Jesus. May God richly bless you!

Prayer to Receive Jesus:

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart that you died on the cross for my sins and rose on the third day. Thank you for your cross. Please forgive me for my sins. I repent or turn away from my sins and receive you Jesus as my God, Lord and Savior of my life. Jesus I invite you to come into my heart. Help me Holy Spirit to know Jesus more and help me to live my life for Jesus. In Jesus’  mighty Name I pray, Amen.
